I realize it not a very strong "clamp" to begin with but I happen to have a jaw problem that prevents me from wearing most over the ear headphones comfortably.
Since its predominantly plastic, I was wondering if it could be loosened any further than it is stock, by stretching the headband a bit?
 
Also, are there any other earpad variations that are maybe a bit denser/softer.

Sure. Just put it on top of a box or something and let it sit overnight. Should ease it up.
