Can the Audioquest Dragonfly drive the 600 ohm DT880?

I am looking to get my first high-end home phones in a long time.

I think I have decided on the DT880 and i currently have the Dragonfly.  I have read the 600 ohm version are the ones to  get, but I am not sure how to determine if my source will drive them The dragonfly output is 125mW @ 32 ohms.

A tad off topic.. are the DT880's overly analytical?   I have my stuff in FLAC, but I do like to route through youtube looking for buried treasures  (aynsley dunbar latley) and I also have a lot of music that was recorded a long ago (Blind Willie Johnson) that could use some "forgiving".

I really doubt that little USB DAC, the Audioquest Dragon fly can drive 600-Ohm.
I'm guessing it might be around 150-Ohm max.

If you get the DT880 Premium 600-Ohm headphones, I would think you would at least spend $200 (or more) for a DAC & head amp, to drive those headphones.

The Audio Technica ATH-AD900X open headphone (40-Ohm) should be able to be driven by the Dragonfly.

No, you will need a better DAC/AMP combo or pick another headphone for the AQDF.

Thanks for the info... the 150 ohm Max bugs me as I would have at least liked to go with the 250 ohm version. They have a 32 ohm version but I will use these on my denon receiver about a 1/3 of the time so want to take advantage of the highest impedence the dragonfly would handle. Btw... AQDF.. I am not familiar with that acronym

Can you run a S/PDIF (optical or coaxial) cable from your computer to the Denon receiver?
If so, hook up the S/PDIF cable, then remove the AudioQuest DragonFly from the computer.
Then just plug the DT880 Premium 600-Ohm headphone into the Denon.

PurpleAngel I do have that set-up (kinda) using a TB Audio Advantage out of my notebook to get optical into the Denon, but its rare I get commandeer the A/V system for any extended listening.  :xf_eek:(

Thanks for taking the time and offering a creative solution.
