I'm looking for good quality folding headphones and I would like to be able to focus my search. Could people post here what is available in folding headphones that qualify as audiophile? Ignore price, just post up what is available or what you recommend.

Thanks.

the akg k181 (not 81) dj is sturdily built and sounds pretty nice (as long as you don't bump up the bass). i'd put it's overall sound quality on par with the well known senn hd25. the once popular equation rp21 is pretty good. and the b&w p5 has a luxurious feel to it and is nice, but a bit pricey.

There are several types of folding. Audio Technica, like Shure, uses a system where the cups fold down to make the unit lay flat for storage in a case. The ESW10 (very hard to find) and the ES10 are probably the best of these types. Denon AD-H1100 and the AH-A100s fold in a similar fashion. These are very good units as well. These fit the best in the small Hippocase (order from Jaben).
