I don't think so, just tried. I scanned all my ALAC files with Foobar and then reloaded my library on itunes and it didn't work. So is there a way to normalize my ALAC files without touching the actual file (like how replaygain works)? I heard the Sound Check on itunes touches the data, but I am not sure, also that the replaygain algorithm is better than the itunes version.

I used FLAC when using my computer rig, but I use ALAC on my iPod and it would be nice for the volume on all tracks to be the same on my iPod. Any suggestions? Thanks.

No, iTunes does not support Replay Gain. It use its own "normalization" system called Sound Check.
You can use iVolume with iTunes though, and with it take advantage of Replay Gain. iVolume - listen to music freehand
