RCA and SPDIF cable seems to have the same connectors.
Is it possible to use the cheaper RCA cable instead of the SPDIF cable?

Yes, video RCA cables (75 ohms). If they're the super-cheapies, they're usually yellow molded plastic instead of red/white.

yeah, cables with 75ohm impedance and normal RCA connection will do.
