Hi I'm real new to this and learning.
 
I'm doing a recap on a sony N80es amp and was wondering if I can replace the mylar and mica caps with polystyrene?
 
I have read that the dielectric sandwich is rolled together with polystyrene, and this adds inductance limiting their frequency response to a few hundred kHz.
Would this have  a negative influence on the sound of the amp? Or could this have an effect on the sound of the speakers?
I've also read that polystyrene are better to use than mylar or mica in audio path.?
I would just like to use one of the best types now that i'm doing the job anyway, but Teflon is a bit to expensive I think.

I rate polystyrene very highly as did my no longer with us mentor JLH  - John Lindsay Hood-he rated them very highly.
You must get the right voltage and dont take long soldering them as the heat can melt them.Replacing the mylar especially will make a positive difference.
They seem to have increased in price greatly the small values 20YRS ago could be  had for 10P-sterling -now 60P-sterling.
