I didn't know if there was any reason not to listen to iTunes files while you're ripping a cd. I have a recent generation (the one before the generation released earlier this year) 20" iMac. I didn't know if the audio stream could disrupt the processing of the rip...

Might be a dumb question, but I want to make sure I'm not compromising the ripping process.

I do it all the time and have not ran into any problems.
You may run into problems if you both listen and rip the CD at the same time, but listening to local files in your iTunes library should be safe.

Thanks! Yes, I'd only be listening to files already downloaded into iTunes, not the disc I'm working on at the moment.
