Hi everyone!

I have HD800 (SDR modded). While I truly love them in terms of detail, soundstage, and crispness, I feel they are a bit light on bass.

So, for that price range, is there anything better than HD800 out there? With a bit more bass, without sacrificing the great features of HD800 I love (soundstage, detail, crispness).

Would (openback) Ether Flow be an improvement over HD800? I do like my music bright and crisp, but a bit more of bass would help.

Anything else?

Thanks!

Nobody?

I guess silence means HD800 is the best, and I should not even look at something better, as there is no such thing?

HD800 SDR mod with bass EQ'd up.

Nothing else really competes with soundstage to the HD800.

Thanks!

Yep, I thought so for soundstage and detail. Bass is definitely a bit lacking.

What EQ tool do you use?

I have both Ether and HD800. I'm upgrading Ether to Ether flow later this year after listen to my friend's Ether Flow. Overall, Ether has more bass, thicker and fuller sounding than HD800, and yet it's not dark like LCDs. I prefer HD800 with instrumental music and Ether with vocals.

It sounds like the consensus is that Ether (Flow) has more bass, and thicker / fuller sound. However, it does not match the soundstage, detail, and "crispiness" of HD800. I guess it is all a matter of compromises like with everything else in life....

I don't know how good the site is, but according to

http://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/hifiman/edition-x

And

http://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/hifiman/he-400i

Both have similar or better soundstage while being planar magnetic

I don't know about HiFiMan Edistion X, but I had the 400i, and it is not even close to HD800 with regards to soundstage and detail. I sold it, once I was introduced to the HD800
