im using a pair of dt770 (250 ohm) and e11/jds cmoy. i was listening to a track by the glitch mob called "between two points" and part of the lyrics are "the shortest distance between two points is a lie". what i heard was "the shorTSeSTS diSTSanCE beTSween TSwo poinTS iS a lie...".
 
i tried eq'ing down between 4-8 khz and playing around but this had little effect. the sibilance isnt enormous but its bugging me, can anything be done to correct it? is it because of the cans? the song is a 320kbps mp3, is it maybe a bad file?
 
i tried listening to the track directly from my laptop and the sibilant t's and s's where still there so im assuming its not the amps or a cable. i tryed listening to the track on youtube and from my phone just for the sake of trying something different and sure enough - t's and s's. would an external dac help with this? again, its not a huge piercing hiss but its there and it shouldnt be.

With my JH 10 x3 Pro straight out of the stereo jack on my PC using your link I get no sibilance.  Her S is definitely pronounced, but there is not sibilance present.  I am guessing you are getting a loud resonance there with your DT770.
 
Take a look at some of the curves for your DT770.  There are some definite harmonic peaks in the treble and the big bump on the 500 Hz Square wave shows there could be some peakiness in the treble.  My guess is you are simply hearing the strong S as sibilance due to the peakiness of the DT770.

Nothing really to worry about.  Just be aware that the DT770 is a tad peaky in the treble and there should be no more surprises.

If you have a scope, check for RF oscillation. Amplifier instability could be a factor in intermittent distortion. I had a couple of cheap amps with that problem.

its not the amps, i tried strieght from my laptop and even through disk on key on my dads dvd player, dont know what oscillation or a scope are either, but thank you for your reponse
