Since I'm getting into this Rockbox thing I'm wondering if I can use something like Foobar to convert ALAC files to FLAC. I don't mined spending the time, I just would prefer to convert rather than re-rip.

Is this possible?

If yes, can you provide details?

Yes you can transcode from Apple Lossless (ALAC) to FLAC. ALAC is lossless, so the resulting FLAC file will be identical whether you rip and encode from the CD or transcode from the ALAC file.

I recommend Max - http://sbooth.org/Max
You might get more specific application specific links if you provide more details. Like which OS you run...

I think this is the direction I will take... convert alac to flac or something. Playing alac files with foobar is leading to too many crashes on my machine. But dang it, asio output sounds awesome.

I don't believe it matters what format you use in regards to ASIO.
