My USB interface's headphone jack is malfunctioning with weird crackles, so i've considered buying my first pre amp, so I can keep using it for my monitors. The problem is, I don't understand how they are plugged within your USB interface, and I suspect that mine hasn't got enough i/o:

My headphones are 600 ohm. I was considering maybe an Schitt or a Lake People, however, I think the AK1 doesn't have enough inputs, I would need 2 TRS inputs right? and there's only one. At the same time they added 4 TRS outputs.. this is such a weird unit.

Assuming I can't, how about the UR242 + a headphone amp?

Suggest you contact Native Instruments and ask them if you can connect an external headphone amplifier (using un-balanced input) to the AK1.

I made this sketch here:

Would this work out well? it would be better if I can control the headphone volume with the 3/4 knob so I have monitor volume knob next to headphone volume knob so I don't need to bother with finding more space for the pre amp to be reachable easily (im running out of desk space)
