can custom IEMs be as sonically accurate as full size headphones

    I was wondering if custom IEMs such as jh16 or 1964 v6 be as sonically accurate as say an hd800 or LCD3s?

    Yes, if we are talking about the sound produced by the drivers.

    No, if we are talking about what the listener actually perceives. I believe that iems handle sound reproduction completely differently to full sized headphones since a full sized headphone allows the sound to interact with your external ear (the auricula and pinna). Since iems directs the sound straight into your ear canals it hasn't had the chance to properly interact with the human ear to lead to the sound that's more real or natural. [​IMG]
