Hello,

TEAC has released a new DAC/AMP with DSD support as well as 384/32. Has anyone been able to test/review them? Information seems scarse.
I also have seen on VanNuys' website some accessories for it, and featured with some Familiar looking IEM (maybe CIEM). Could it be that Vannuys have IEM made by aurisonics ?

Thanks,

  Link?

And per your description it sounds like your talking about the Teac UD-503 per your description -  Teac UD 503 DAC (2015 New Release, DXD, DSD256)

Edit - Are you talking about the Teac HA‑P50 Portable Headphone Amplifier and USB DAC -

Hi sygnus21,

No, it's not HA-P50, it's really the P5. Not sure why they made so close sounding model numbers.
You would need to head to TEAC's japan website to see it. https://t.co/wmrhBQZmNE <http://teac.jp/product/ha-p5/ >
Here's what I found though: <http://news.mynavi.jp/articles/2016/02/13/teac_potaken_2016winter/>
You can get a peek on Vannnuy's Twitter feed as well: <https://twitter.com/bellum_mare/lists/vannuys>

If you have a way to spook the site about your source IP, you can see the site.

Thanks,

Or alternatively, Vannuys site, that show their case: <http://www.vannuys.co.jp/n_teac_hap5_lap/index.html>
Funny that the accessory manufacturer site has better coverage of the product.

BTW, I found from them that they had a custom casing made with the van name, their are not white labeling anyone else.

Yeah, the link works much better than the others, especially since I don't speak, read, or write Japanese

And yeah, that's definitely going to cause confusion when speaking of the HP5 and/or HP50.

Anyway I have no opinion on either as they're not anything I'm interested in at this time. Thanks for the info though.

Yeah, I can see constant clarification about this.

The IEM, in case you wondered, are Unique Melody Maverick, which can only be obtained through Japan. :frowning2:

Yeah Japan has lots of nice electronics we may never see in the U.S. And I'm guessing Europe may be in the same boat.  Makes me wish I was still in the military so I could travel to Japan for some nice toys.

Unfortunately I've never been stationed in or visited Japan; just did tours in Europe. But yeah, I hear Japan is very expensive. Would love to visit someday though. It's on my bucket list.

I was able to lay my hand on one of those HA-P5 s. It sounds more refined than the HA-P90SD for sure!!! Most of the songs that I often listen to sound better with the HA-P5 than with the HA-P90SD. My headphones include Ultrasone Pro 2900 and B&O Beoplay H6. I also have a desktop system (Weiss DAC2 + SPL Phonitor 2 + Sennheiser HD800). Compared with my desktop system, the HA-P5 is better in the sense that it has the flavor and timber of pop music while my desktop system is more studio monitor like, exposing the flaws of the recording and post-processing and is not so pleasant for listening to non-acoustic instruments and heavily processed pop songs.

Now back to the HA-P5. It has slightly more balanced frequency response than the HA-P90SD. While one of the best thing I enjoy about the HA-P5 is that some of the noisy songs that was unpleasant to listen to with the HA-P90SD is no longer that unpleasant to listen to with the HA-P5. Also, the details are better reproduced with the HA-P5.
The sound stage/ positioning of sound sources are also more precise with the HA-P5. The HA-P5 also sounds a bit more natural than the HA-P90SD.

Definitely recommended.
However, do not buy it on Amazon though. Ebay is seemingly the best place to buy it for now. I bought this HA-P5 via aleado Yahoo auction which cost me hefty service fees. Even though the HA-P5 itself was just $488, I was astonished to find the total ended up to be $620 DAMN! There are some sellers on Ebay that sell these at $610.

I am surprised at the lack of reviews on the HA-P5

Hi Guys
My name is Harry. I live in Canada Montreal area.I'm new to portable audio and Hi-Res music
I bought this amp/dac very recently from ebay.
Built quality is excellent and sound nicely. Before to buy this one I went to a hi-fi- shop here in Montreal and tried another brand but was really disappointed. There was not
any difference with or without the amp.

I recommend  this.
