I tried the DNE320 and thought it sounded pretty bad. Very digitally harsh, and had a strangely seperated frequency response, with the highs/mids/lows very distinctly presented and not blended together - overall very unnatural sounding. I've seen a few posts recently saying "DNE320 is crud, the 300 r0x0rZ" or something to that effect, but none of them have gone into much detail about the how and the why. Can anyone give a more thorough impression, eps. with regards to frequency response?

I will be buying a 330 sometime this month, but I own a 320 and I'll post my findings when I get it. But I do know this

d-ne320 headphone output = 5mW
d-ne330 headphone output = 15mW

and owning previous sony models with 15mW output, its a noticable difference and I know without hearing that the 330 will kick some ass as far as recent pcdp go. And I dont find the d-ne320 to be harsh. I also dont push its limitations, I use effecient headphones and keep the bass settings where they wont distort, but the 330 should solve these issues that some ppl have.

I don't have a D-NE320, but I have been using my newly purchased D-NE330 for the past week or two almost exclusively of my other PCDP's. All I can say is that it has become my favorite PCDP. It provides a very full and rich sound. For the money, it's great. Using PX100, AKG K27i, and Grado SR60, I feel no need to amp it.
