Can anyone comment on the headphone-out of the CEC DA53?

I do own it's sibling Aqvox DAC(same technology, different enclosure) and I'm therefor qualified to answer your questions.
The headphone out is total crap.It's part of the USB-section and it's driven by an own cheap DAC/opamp combo.

No, there's no volume pot.

The CEC DA53's headphone port is only active when using USB. It is intended for computer telephony, along with the mic input. There is no volume control for the headphone port and it has to be adjusted through the computer. The mic input has a volume knob. The headphone port's sound quality is not good.

One thing I like about the DA53 is the RCA and XLR outputs are always active. I sometimes use them both at the same time to connect two amps.
