I was wondering if amplifiers can go kaput just from general use without any mishandling? Are there signs of dying amplifiers?

I was just watching some youtube yesterday when my ~4 year old NFB-12 just turned off suddenly. It wasn't extraordinarily hot or anything and all of my other electrical appliances were working just fine. The power switch didn't do anything, but once I unplugged it from the outlet and plugged it back in, it worked just fine. Still is right now. Since this is my first and only amp, I'm not sure if Amps can just die like that. Was wondering if anyone had an amp die over time or if that was even a thing. Should I look into getting a new amp?
