On my computer there is a delay in Foobar when you change the volume. The other day I accidentally turned it up way too high because it didn't kick in for a few seconds and when it did I had to pull off my headphones (DT770's out of my Zero). I have no idea how many dB it was and it couldn't have been more than a second, but I am paranoid from hearing all of these stories of how short impulses of sounds above 120-140 dB can cause hearing loss (gunshots, thunder, etc.). I had a short bout of tinnitus later that night that only lasted for a few seconds. So what does everyone think, can such an event cause permanent damage in seconds?
