I have my Auzen doing 5.1 sound. I just realize it has an optical input. The manual has a pic of a PS2 going in that input. Does this imply I should be able to hook my Xbox 360 into the card and hear it? Because so far, it's not working... anyone tried this? It sure would save on a new receiver...

It should work, but you will need your computer turned on and make sure that the SPDIF input isn't muted. I use this method with my Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatility and it works...well. In theory. It just has a lot of issues that give me reason to never buy a Sound Blaster card again.

The X-meridian doesn't decode dolby digital or dts. It should work fine for PCM stereo but I'm guessing that's not what you're after. When you play back a DVD on your PC using the X-meridian then it's the DVD software doing the decoding, not the card. It might be possible to use a software decoder to make it work, but you'd have to ask someone else about that as I've never tried it.
