Hi All;

I have a Sony D-EJ915, which uses gumstick batterys or an external case that holds two AA.

Yesterday a battery committed sucide in the external case, and ruined the plastic.

I have few spare cosmic battry cases for use in my traveller bag. Is it possible to convert one of these 4 D cell cases to run the CD player? Ideally, I'd use 4 Ds to drive the CD player, but wonder if that would melt it.

Ah, the mys-ter-y of the bat-ter-y

thanks all

Matthew

if you were to shove 3 sets of 2 double a's into a mint tin with a four throw switch it may work better

TWo rechargeables = ~ 2.4V
4 D = 6V
Yes, that's too high.

You ought to consider just picking up a 2D battery holder from radioshack or wherever if you really need that much runtime. 4D is just overkill and that much extra weight and size, not even considering the extra circuitry to step-down the voltage.

But, if you REALLY wanted to use the 4D cells, you could rewire the pack so you had 2 x 2 D cells, 2 parallel sets of 2 in series so the voltage was 3V. If you really needed that much runtime I'd wonder how long you were planning on being out in the woods though, and how long you can listen to same CDs over and over again before going mad.

Looking around the best AA rechargables I see are about 2500mah. The best D are about 12000mah. 2 Ds in series in this case would give you roughly 5 times the runtime the AAs would.

appreciate the imput everyone. Will look into the radioshack option, as electronics are way over my head. Step down circuts-I step back from anything requiring cutting and soldering!

As always, I'm thankfully for head-fiers who take the time to help.

Now, if someone can figure out how to get theat microzi=otl wedged into the traveller bag...
