Thanks to the very bad influence of all of you, I've been considering a new CD source....thought the 500se would be a good transport/dac combo...

I've noticed that www.value-audio.com is currently selling the 500se for $395, no shipping charges! Is this about as good as it can get for a new unit?

But if I get this, I won't have anything left over for my Cardas (or Stephan Audio) HD600 cables...what to do...

Buy it! The word is speading about these players. The two stores that had them in Chicago have sold out.Audio Advisor has price matching and usually will beat a price by a few dollars to get the business and I know they sell this player.

Dunno about the price (bought mine used on the forum for around $275), but wanted to throw in my recommendation for the player. I love mine. (Make sure you get the silver faceplate version

wasifazim,

Thanks for the pointer to Everest Audio...

Does anyone know if there are any kind of customs fees to receive items from Canada? I've never ordered anything from that far north before

Canadian sales taxes only apply to..*surprise* Canadians. So if a U.S.-based buyer makes a purchase from a Canadian store, you won't be paying sales taxes.
