Someone told me that it charges faster but as a result it harms the battery.

I wasnt sure if this is true or not.

It's one of those cigarette car outlet plugin things and it allows you to plug USB devices in to power them.

The Zune OEM cigarette lighter adapter outputs 1.4 amps, as opposed to USB, which tops out about a 3rd of that, approximately 500 mA.

Now, the OEM adapter will charge the battery faster then USB, but I do not believe the battery will incur any more damage than it would being charged "normally", at your computer. If you are really concerned, you can just pick up a non-OEM adapter with a lower output.
