Well, maybe 20 years too late, but just got a California Audio Labs Delta CD transport. I plugged that into the digital input of my Fiio Q5S DAC. Headphones tried are Sennheiser HD650, and AKG K-275.
My first question......Should I use the Digital output of the CD transport, or the optical output? (does it matter?...digital is digital)
I was very shocked, but I think the AKG cans sound better. I really would have put money on the Senns, that they would be superior!
So my question....The Fiio unit is a tiny, battery run, handheld unit. Is there another DAC that would TOTALLY blow it out of the water? ...I mean a clear improvement?
Just wondering what else I might play with.
