I am just wondering where you guys get small amounts of cable for things like DIY recables and such. I am looking to get a cable and a 3/8" connector to do my D5000's with so I can put the stock cable back on if there are any issues that need warranty.

Anyone know of anywhere fairly cheap or have any scrap cabling supplies (cable and sleeving) that they would want to part with?

I buy it at the local friendly music-store .
They have various types of Mogami-wire on big 50 and 100 meter rolls,
starting at 1.5 Euro pr meter for the simpler 1 or 2 conductor types .
Excellent shielded 4-conductor cable like this they sell for 3 Euro/m

Not to mention a huge selection of Neutrik and Switchcraft goodies !
Sleeving you can get at most electronics-supply shops and of course from all the large
suppliers on the net like Mouser etc etc .
 
Probably money to be saved browsing around a bit, compared to buying in a real shop,
but I like that I can just go buy it when I need it ..

I used http://www.redco.com/ for my first venture into cables.  They have bulk mogami, various connectors, and techflex sleeving (I messed up my first tech-flex by not cutting it with a hot knife).  You can always just search "bulk audio cable" in google and see what you get.
