I read the post on how to make an interconnect and it was very helpful. I have some leftover Mogami quad mic cable and am planning to make two cables. The first one will be an upgraded interconnect for my iPod. I think the info already on the forum is enough for me to pull that off.

On the second, I need some help. I have a Sony PCM-D50 recorder. It has a 3.5mm stereo trs input for stereo news gathering microphones. I want to use my existing mono dynamic mic. I need some wiring input.

I need to get the +ve of the mic to both the tip and the ring (left and right channel). No problem there with the quad cable. I'll come off pin 2 in the XLR with both white conductors and then connect one to the tip and one to the ring.

I assume the next step is to connect both blue conductors to pin 3 (-ve) of the XLR and solder both to the sleeve of the mini.

What do I do with the shield coming off pin 1 of the XLR? Should I float it? Jump it to the ground on the mini?

The last thing I want to do is blow the mic pre in my new favorite toy.

Thanks in advance for the help. You guys build some great looking stuff!
