I try to be friendly to folks who seem to honestly not know and don't have a chip on their shoulder. I'm polite to the rest once or twice before the gloves come off.

I know, but that was not what I meant by “constant bashing”. With “constant bashing” I was just refering to the level of cynicism within the latest mocking-posts (mostly my own), since gregorio asked if it was possible to be too cynical. And I think yes it was.

I agree. We have to keep in mind that the internet isn't just an empty void that we can rage into. It's an ocean populated with millions of other people. We get treated the way we treat others. And others get treated the way they treat us. It's nice to be nice. That said, it's still OK to poke a little fun now and then.
