C&C Box Portable Headphone Amp: not really a compete review.

Well, just a quick voice on the burn-in subject. I was skeptical, but my Tomahawk changed quite noticably after the first day or two of burn-in. The bass tightened up and everything evened out. I'm definitely a believer. I haven't really noticed much change since then, but it definitely changed. Love it.

These Chinese amps are small and cheap enough to stoke my curiosity a bit, I gotta admit. If only I had the money... But then, I'm plenty happy with the Tomahawk, so I don't really have a NEED for an amp anymore.

The quality build and from what I read, the sound of the Tomahawk would make it a great amp to own and enjoy. I love well made things and I would probably look at it as much as listen. :^)

Yeah, I have no complaints about the build quality of the Tomahawk at all. I admit to being a little freaked out that the back plate is used to bridge the electrical connection between the batteries, but hey, it works beautifully (just don't let it touch metal buttons while it's on, or you'll get some nasty static). Nicely sturdy, too.

I only wish I had a nicer way of transporting the rig. My little camera bag works well, but I have to use the wired remote for my H120. It's not bad, but the extra wire can be tedious. But these are minor complaints for the marvelous sound quality and insane battery life.

I got a bag at Walmart, and I am the one who complains that they force their suppliers to buy from one country, and it has worked out well but they don't carry them any longer.

The C&C is sounding very good on Eric Clapton's "Unplugged". There is nice spatial information and very good imaging with decent depth. The bass, which is plenty at times on this recording, is well recorded and appropriate. There is a good separation of voices with nothing glued to your ears and the sound gets out of your head to a degree. This is while using my 650's most of the time. The IEM's do pretty good but sound a little cold at this point.

Jamato8, Funny thing when I made my original post about this amp(which was dumped) I was burning in this amp on Clapton Unplugged and had the same feeling. Small world

Yeah, I used to listen to the disc all the time and burnt out on it but after a while I enjoy it again and the recording on my speakers or headphones comes across natural making the sound and music both enjoyable for me.

I hope the C & C warms up some as right now it is a little cool/hard sounding, for my liking but it is early in the burn-in process. The C & C is ever so strident, just enough that I hope it tips towards a little more warmth. The LD Micro Tube is just about the right balance of tube warmth and solid-state, it doesn't go either way too far and provides a good amp to compare to with plenty of detail both in macro and micro proportions.

Great, the amp is starting to warm up! I hope it continues as this add body and dimension to the sound. A little over a 100 hours on the unit now. It holds a good charge so this is a plus.

The sound is becoming more neutral and the bass is integrated well.

I had an opportunity to listen to Vorlon1's C&C unit yesterday. I was floored that an amp so inexpensive could sound so good. The spatial switch is amazing in opening the soundstage.

I liked it so much I contacted the vendor on purchasing one.

You are asking the wrong guy, I like the Hornet "M" but not the Tomahawk. So I would say get the C&C. Vorlon1 prefers the Tomahawk and would answer differently.

BTW the C&C is about the lenght of an iPod, height of the Tomahawk and width of Go-Vibe 5.

This is an ancient chinese secret so you'll have to promise to keep this to yourself. Due to forces of nature beyond our control and the law of supply and demand, as with most anything of value... you'll eventually find the C&C Box sold on eBay for quite the profitable margin.
