They fold?

My mistake, they bend, not fold. Kept thinking of the M100's nifty folding mechanism. Honestly, they're tiny enough that it doesn't make much of a difference. Carrying case is pretty slick and durable as well.

Any suggestions for choosing between the UE700s and the Monster Turbines?

I'm leaning towards the Turbines because there seems to be more quality complaints with the UEs, but the Turbines do have their fair share of issues too

Logitech UE and Monster both have their share of QC complaints, and it's exasperated by the higher influx of customers since they're a relatively more mainstream brand. I'd stick with the UE700 personally (after having just heard the recently).

hey guys, ive shortlisted ath sj-11,sj33,re70; sennheiser hd 202 II ,hd 219, px100,hd229  Sony MDR XB400, my budget is kinda low, around 2000-2500 INR (40$-50$) i listen to rock, rap, metal and house.

so pls tell me which ones will be the best based on comfort, portability, sound quality and value for money or if u think you of a better pair of headphones pls tell me.

Most headphones of Koss,JVC,etc are not available in India,

Most Sennheiser,Audio Technica,Sony,etc are available

No AKG? Because the K518DJ would work great. The PX100 would definitely win portability/value-wise out of the choices though. The HD2*9 series aren't anything special/

Hoping someone can help me out with a few suggestions for a new set of headphones. I'm using a set of Sennheiser CX500's right now. They're fine. The seal in my ears comes loose at times, but not a deal breaker. I've had them for over a year and the cord is starting to come apart. I can see the wires inside coming out, so time to look for a new pair before they die. I'm not an audiophile so as long as the sound is decent I don't think I'm going to know the difference. My biggest wants are phone/music/volume controls for Android (I'd like ALL of the controls to work in Android) and stopping noise leakage. I really don't care about noise-cancelling (keeping outside sounds out), but I hate being in a crowded place and having others listening to my music or podcast or whatever. I'm not sure why people say IEMs have the least noise leakage, they leak plenty in my experience. I was hoping to not go much over the $100 range, but I realize I might have to rethink that.

Any suggestions?

Downtown/Uptowns headphones-wise for the mic/remote. If your IEM's are leaking and they aren't vented, you're probably listening way too loud. As in 90-100dB, max volume on whatever DAP you're using loud. Try not to listen that loud, seriously messes up your hearing in the future. I can get them to ear-bleeding levels without the slightest hint of leakage. IEM-wise, MH1C/MC2/S4 are among the few mic/remote ones I can think of at this moment. The Etys in particular isolate ALOT.

hi,

i will like advice/reviews for both Panasonic RP-HJE450-K and JBL J33i.

i suspect the panasonic earphone might be a super underrated earphone for it's performance capability. need more expert advice. :D

and i just saw the JBL earphone on website, they look promising too at only $80. (can't find much review for this)

generally, i am interested in finding a pair of balanced audio profile in-ear earphone, or more simply put it has to be the best bang for the buck with normal bass (i am not a basshead and cant appreciate excessive bass either), good mids for vocals and good treble into the true 20kHz range (sound should not crack/become sibilant).

despite the way products are all commercialised today,  i don't absolutely believe in the "what you pay for is what you get" price = quality saying, as i believe there are still underdog brands out there that are cheap in price and high sound quality products. therefore, i am restricting myself to a soft budget range of $100+-.

i think many people out will benefit from honest recommendations in this price range, please come forward and share.

thanks :)

i am interested in investing in a more costly pair of earphone but please understand that (i believe) my current panasonic earphone is already delivering very well balanced performance across bass, mid and treble so i cannot accept a new pair of earphone that has a less overall balanced profile. it's necessary for the new earphones to be just as good in bass, mid and treble if not better than the RP-HJE-270 with perhaps better mids as i prefer to feel the singers singing live before me.

MY REVIEW OF Panasonic RP-HJE270-K

i currently own a pair of Panasonic RP-HJE270 and they sound ok to be, no sibilant sound for the whole range, seems to be rather ok bass (far too loud - firestorm, 2ne1 - i am the best) and capable of delivering treble into the high shrieks of orchestra music (jurassic park, time to say goodbye etc). i've never owned anything better so i am not sure if im living in a cave, probably am. :D microphonics is present and annoying as i wear them straightdown without a shirt clip. (i believe all earbuds,in-ears come with microphonic problem unless worn over the ear or minimized with a shirt clip or comes with unique design to eliminate microphonics). the glued together parts are popping open after about a year of use now (might be an existing problem with most earphones). sound wise, i actually genuinely feel it's good as i have heard of people complaining of sibilant sound/cracking sound in cheap earphones but i never had any with this pair of cheap panasonic earphones (even playing jurassic park john williams orchestra FLAC at 100% on my computer and top gun anthem FLAC at 100%, equal loudness equalizer TURNED OFF). this pair seems to have good instrument separation (cymbals, drums guitar etc) too.

i am quite confident of panasonic earphones after owning 2 pairs of $20-$50 earphones from them now, all i ever had since existence. sound quality wise is good, durability is ok, both pairs only popped open at the glued parts after 1-2 years daily use which i use my hands to snap them back together, if you can glue them back yourself, they will probably last a lot longer. my panansonic earphones have never died on me ever before, both ears sound fine after years of use, it's only the glue problem really, but they're cheap isn't it? you can always buy the same model again as long as the factory still makes them.  :)

another point to note: i seldom go beyond 50% of the total volume in my daily use, that might be one of the underlying factors as to why i have never encountered any of the left or right speakers failing throughout my history of using panasonic earphones.

Ehhhh Looking for a new set of headphones to work out with. I've had a pair of ME electronics for about a year that will probably need replacing soon. I made another thread  asking about that actually.

I'm wondering if any of these are worth grabbing.

Senn CX500's  $40

JVC FX3X - $33

HiFiMan RE0's - $49

Lg Tones+  -$52

Whatever pair I get will inevitably be used to listen to a bunch of different music and will be subject to possibly daily Gym use, sweat, ect. I am looking for the best deal and the best sound and willing to try some others. I'm trying to stay under $60 and want the best quality I can get. I consider comfort, durability, fairly important.

Looking for a pair of IEMs coming from CX500s for a friend!

Budget would be about $300USD, to be used with an iPhone 5 or iPod Classic, without an amp.
Listens to Dream Theater, but also some Celine Dion.

Preferably a durable pair to be worn over-ear, with decent noise isolation.
Looking for a pair with a good deal of warmth and solid bass.

Thanks!

Senn CX500's  $40 Bit bassy, not exactly a fantastic all-rounder. Build is average, no real problems

JVC FX3X - $33 No idea, sorry

HiFiMan RE0's - $49 Not the most durable. Build really doesn't inspire. If you're looking at vigorous gym use with these... good luck

Lg Tones+  -$52 No idea, sorry

I'd also suggest the the Dunu Hephaes/Hawkeye for sheer durability. Especially the latter as an all-rounder (though that might be the new-toy syndrome speaking, having tried them a week beforehand before putting them under the Christmas tree, and loving them). Metal housing, solid cabling. If I exercised, these would be the ones I'd take everyday.

Completely agree with the microphonics part in the review. At that price, the PFE022 are supremely balanced, a solid heavy-hitter. Flat, but adjustable bass with the filters. Smooth mids, great for vocals. Treble quantity is the kind where it really hits the sweet spot in terms of balance.

also looking for a pair of IEMs for my dad. He listens to Jimmy Buffet style music, with a little Taio Cruz. Hoping to spend under 50 or 40

Chill stuff, midrange-to-bass centric? You could go the fun route with some MH1C/GR02 Bass, balanced with the E30. Anything that he's looking for build/comfort-wise? Features like mic/remote?

do i have any other options?
(bass heavy pair that folds, has a detatchable cable and is under 200. (On ear headphone) comfort is also very important.)

Foldable? Not that I can think of. If your ears are average or slightly larger than average, the MS400 are supposed to be circumaural, but they fit on-ear apparantly for a lot of folks. And I'm positive that these are foldable, at least I think so...No detachable cable though.A bit more bass heavy than the M80, definitely what I would consider within the realm of bass-heavy bass.

You might want to think about compromising on one of the points though, unless me/someone else miraculously comes up with an option that might work on all fronts.

what do you thing about the hd 205 or do you know of a better pair of headphones within the price range?

K518DJ (shameless re-plug, but they are very nice). Never liked the HD205, HD2*8, from what I heard in Future Shop, Best Buy. The other pairs out in the wild sounded just as mediocre. Take that with a grain of biased salt though.

Might you be able to stretch your budget? Because the UM3X/SM3 seem to slot in with what you're looking into perfectly. Slightly different presentations, but both are warm and hit hard with some very slight bass boosts (not excessive, think a tubey, euphonic boost). Also the MTPC fits underneath that budget, they have a cable guide for over-ear wear as far as I'm aware, but you could that way without the guides anyways. More bass than the two mentioned above, and even warmer. Isolation isn't as good as the above two, but it's decent nevertheless

Mind giving me a link?

My ME9's have metal casing but, they still seem to be slowly dying. I have been working off/on a lot and I think they only lasted like 6 months of actual use.

I have a UM3x myself, and my friend has listened to it, but he prefers more sparkly highs, and 300 is really stretching it. Thank you for the suggestion though, I'll have a look at the MTPC.

If he's looking for sparkle, the MTPC might not be the key. Look at the Tribute Trumpets instead. Maybe the FX500/700, but I can only vouch for the latter. There's also the dilemma of them being open-backed.

It's a much more solid casing than the M9. Got them straight from Dunu-Topsound, on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/DUNU-DN-18-Hawkeye-Headphones-earphones/dp/B009P0JD1S

Thanks for the suggestions TwinQY. I checked out the Uptowns, but they only have mic/volume controls and no tracking which I now think is an essential. Though your suggestion led me to the Philips STRETCH. They seem to have all the features I'm looking for. My only worry is that they might be too noise isolating. I don't want to be completely unaware of my surrounding when walking around town.

As for the IEMs, I'm still not sure they would work for me. I don't listen to my music on full blast, but it only takes a slight increase in volume with my current pair for them to go from no leakage to significant leakage. I'm always so worried that I'm annoying the person sitting next to me that I turn down the volume so low that the music just isn't that enjoyable. I looked at the Etymotics (thanks for reminding me of this brand) and found the HF2s have all the features I like, though they get a lot of "not durable" reviews. I might try them out to see if the leakage problem is any better than my Sennheisers. You said they are great at noise isolation, but I don't really care about noise isolation (keeping sound out) I'm worried about keeping sound in.

If anyone wants to weigh in on the STRETCHs or the HF2s feel free.

Are the Senns vented, because I can't for the life of me remember. I do remember they having a shallower seal, but not particularly bad leakage.  Because typically, IEMs do not leak out sound unless the volume is rather high.

The nozzles on the HF5/2 are a bit thin and will probably be more likely to break than my ER4P. And the MC5 are slightly more plasticky. Combined with the fact that they isolate extreme amounts. Didn't realize over-isolation was in the criteria, so I take back the Ety recommendation back. They do not leak for sure though. Even if you crank them to ear-popping levels.

Can-wise, forgot the Stretches had the track remote. The demo at the Best Buy in Bellingham had the regular cable model. Didn't think they isolated too much.

So, I'm looking for an in-ear pair of headphones.
I like bass, but not too much of it.
I listen mostly to rock/metal.

First I was thinking about buying MH1C, but now my budget increased and I can get a more comfortable pair(the flat cable on the MH1C look's pretty uncomfortable).

So, my budget is 100$. I'd like to buy them on eBay because i'm not from US.
