Uptowns mostly catched my eye because I could buy them now for about the same price I got Downtowns half an year earlier. I was a bit unclear, but I don't need neither absolute clarity nor turbofast cans. Some records like Lapko's discography just deteriorates into cacophony of barely distinguishable instruments. I don't know how to describe it, but on HM5 for example they sound fine. I mentioned rock because I know you can't find good jacks of all trades for this price, but this should give some insight on my taste.

I will check out the KNS8400, but on the first sight the headband seems to be the type that makes your head look three times bigger. That's the look I try to avoid. Also HD25 and DT1350 are on my 'will get someday' -list, but as a student it feels like I could use those 200e more wisely.

Ya check them out. I think your ears will be so happy you won't care what you look like.

The uptowns to me are a great sounding headphone that do have their flaws. Specifically the fact you are missing some detail in the mids but at the same time somehow they don't sound muffled or too laid back. For the money they are great. I can't get that link to play on my ipad but I can't see having the problem you described with those. If you have access to them for cheap they are well worth it. If they don't work out they can easily be re-sold to a non audiophile friend since most people will find them to sound great.

The JVC S400 is about as good of a portable as you can find out there for $20 to $25. I have never heard another headphone as good in that price range. I have heard worse that cost much more however.
The JVC S500 is an import from Japan so i am sure you can get it in your country. It will cost you about $75 to import. I have no idea what brazilian customs is like.
The Philips Uptown has been available in the US for $65 including shipping for about 2 months now. It is worth looking for in your country on special.
The other headphone that you should consider is the on ear version of the Philips DOWNTOWN which has been $40 dollars in the US for as long as i have known about them from different sources. It seems like something mass produced enough that you might be able to locate in your region.
If you have read up on the Senny's and you like the reviews, there is no real need to repeat a review here.

You are asking me to make the decision for you. I provided you that link so you can visit all those dedicated threads to inform yourself about them.

All I can say is out of the choices, if you made me choose I would take the S500 or the Uptowns and you can see on my thread I linked which of those two I even prefer. That is just my personal preference any YMMV.

The first version of the Bose IE is one of the worst things I have put in my ears. I hear the newer one is an improvement but they certainly are nowhere near a $90 dollar value.

The MEE I have not heard but I got a pair of M6 for free. They WERE the worst thing I even put in my ears (okay maybe an exaggeration). I couldn't even offload them for 10 dollars on ebay.

I have heard only a few monster products that I like but I have not heard those.


I would recommend something like the $19 FX40 + $15 Comply T400 tips for working out. They are so light that with the foam they never come out of your ears.

Then try the Sony MH1 for casual listening for 30 bucks.

Hi there, I'm looking for a new pair of in-ear headphones. As I am a student my budget is indeed limited. I'm not an audiophile, but I'd like to get ones with a "decent" (I know, I know, but decent for the price, that is) quality of sound.

My music preferences are pretty varied. Rock, pop, jazz, blues, swing, movie/games soundtracks, and much more. As I woudln't mind to have a good bass while listening to for example Hey Joe, I also really woudln't like to have an overpowered, booming bass drowning out the rest of the song (and I'm not a "basshead" type).

I just need some sort of all-arounders, well-rounded (when it comes to sound) headphones that would work nicely for most of music genres (as I said before, I'm not an audiophile, so it probably won't take too much to impress me).
 
It would be nice if these were quite comfortable to wear of course.
Sound isolation is really important for me, as I'm going to use these mainly (but not only) outdoors, on a daily basis so yea..
Oh, and the crucial thing - durability. I need them to be as durable as possible (jack connector, cable, overall build quality, etc). I need them to last long, even under "pretty heavy" usage.

I did some research, found many headphones to choose from, but lastly I was left with these two - M9 and HAFX1X. And I have no idea which one should I get. These seem to fit my requirements pretty nicely thou. 
I was also wondering about Jlabs Jbuds J4. These look extremly durable,  but I don't know if they're worth paying more for. I'm also concerned with the comfort issues. 

I would be really grateful if you could help me to choose (or maybe sugest yet another pair of in-ear headphones?), as I don't have too much expriance in this area

My main concern about headphones I workout in is durability and noise cancellation. A lot of guys in my gym use the Bose and seem to like them, but I don't know if they will last long. How is the durability of the FX40? I'm really tired of spending $25 for headphones every 2-3 months.

I have never heard of any build problems with the JVC and there are a lot of guys on head fi who picked them up. They have lasted me and I have given the cable a couple of yanks. I mean just put them in your shirt and take care of them. Any IEM is going to break if you yank the cable out, it doesn't really matter what kind you get. The cable is well made enough that it doesn't start to break internally from normal use. it is better to break a $20 pair that sounds good than a $100 dollar par that sounds ok.

In terms of isolation it will be BETTER with the JVC and the comply tips. Foam is one of the best sound isolation tips and they stay put. Nice and snugly.

They are real nice for the money for sure and it is true, they do fold nicely for portability. Might as well.

Besides, you have already made the mistake of joining head-fi, so you WILL buy more

I'm sure you've read the S500 thread. I've got them, and they really are great. The sound signature became perfect for me when I also got the ath pleather pads ($13) to go along with them. That's part of the fun with them though - there are so many easy mods that can be made with them that change the sound quite a bit.

Sorry, can't find a budget up there. Since you mentioned the M9/HAFX1X, I'm assuming 20-40. In that case, the MH1C (warm, do-no-wrong sound), Soundmagic E30 (very balanced), VSonic GR99 (haven't heard, but people claim them to be very good for the buck, look into them if you can), or any of the DUNU stuff at that price if you prioritize build quality.

Sounds like the V-Moda M80s! They go on sale for around $150 sometimes, so watch out during Black Friday. Foldable, the cables can withstand millions of bends or something (search for Vmoda cable on youtube) and are detachable. Vented, so the isolation isn't that good, but it's average/above average. If ER4s were 10/10, they'd be 6-7/10. The AKG K181/518/618(haven't heard this one) might work as well.

Frequency response figures don't really matter, not like most people can hear properly above 18kHz. Still confused on whether you want IEMs or cans. If you're in the Vancouver area, check out Headphone Bar. If you're in Montreal...oh boy. The other provinces don't matter to me 

. Canadacomputers can be a bit too overpriced for headphones, but if you find a sale, that'd be pretty decent. 
For IEMs, try the PFE022, has a mic, good for all genres, extremely balanced. For full-sized, the Downtowns (Winners has them at times) have mic/remote, good sound, and are right under your budget.

My budget is around 100$. Jus saw the the discounted Brainwavz B2 - 109$ v/s Rockit- R50 118$.
 
I have been recommended the Rockit R-50 by many. did not find any comparisons with the B2. Any diff in sound sig between the two? Which will be more suited for Opeth and Floyd ?

Might be because of the bass-light nature. If that's the case, the B2 won't be up your alley - one of the more bass-light phones I've heard. The Rockits are very good. The SE215 are amazing for metal though. Coming from a fellow Opeth fan, they just sound amazing for the price.

Doesn't the Zune buds' cables tangle a lot? The sound doesn't compare to the PFE012 (assuming that's the model you refer to from your budget). Not a Phonak shill (although they pretty much fit all your requirement and then some), so I'm going to suggest the HF5 for clean bass.

The GR07...Bass? I think you mean to say the GR02 Bass (completely different model, different price, different tier). The MK2 has the new accessories and a silver cable or something. Most sell the MK2 now, so it matters little. The VSonics are warm, with very good body in the mids. Vocals sound great.
