Hey guys
I am considering purchasing an open box sennheiser momentum 2.0 wireless ivory headset here in toronto. I have been trying to find a new pair for a decent price and havent found any beneath $500 cad. I just found one close to my price range at $350 cad but I am a bit hesitant because I had bought a used pair of these before and the smell was awful on those. I am also worried about personal hygiene. Any recommendations for cleaning the ear pads or should i just bite the bullet and wait for the price to drop on the new version. Also considering buying new pads to replace the old ones. Will doing that take care of the hygiene issue.
Thanks for reading

Buying new pads will almost certainly fix hygeine/smell issues... but if you want to clean them...

The earpads are very easy to take off, and a little tricky to put back on but nothing odious.
But once they're off you can use any common method to wash the earpads.

My preference would be for lukewarm water and pH neutral hand soap or body-wash.
You don't want to use any intense products to clean the leather or a too high temperature, but at the same time, you don't want to go too easy on the pads either or you won't get the dirt out of the fabric part of it.
Then do plenty of soaking and wringing cycles of the fabric part of the pads, which is where most of the sweat/gunk/smell is coming from.

Lay them out on a towel near a heater or in a warm room (boiler room?) to dry, but not directly ON one, as this will ruin the leather.
After it has fully dried out, use a leather-care product of your chosing to moisturise the leather, also giving it a layer of proction for the months of use ahead.
Even vaseline will work for this as a cheap alternative if you don't want to buy anything extra special.
The other benefit of vaseline is that it's practically odourless, and safe for your skin/ears too.

Thank you sir. I was unsure about the cleaning methods and I havent opened the earpads before but I think I should be okay. If not I will ask questions on the form here. I dont want to spend over $500 cad for a new one so I think I will purchase these.

Another question, any idea if I will be able to avail sennheiser warranty if I purchase these phones using cash? I save 13% on the price if I pay cash.

Thanks
