I have a ASUS ROG STRIX Z270E MB and I have no idea how to determine whether the on board sound is good enough to fully power and get the most out of the HD 589 CS. I've heard that the low end of these headphones are weak and that I might need something to get the most out of them.

I'd argue that it is "good enough." A lot of higher end motherboard models seem to have put some effort into their audio hardware. Overall the HD598s don't really need much to drive em... with that in mind I'd say you'll be just fine plugging it into the back.

Anyway, I doubt that any amount of amping will help the HD598's bass. They tend to be mid-centric... just the design of the cans. Still motherboard should go a long way towards fully utilizing the sound these things have.
