Hello, I'm a bit lost here.

I'm looking to invest into a desktop amp.

  1. I'm not sure what to buy.
  2. I'm not sure where to buy. I'm from Canada.
  3. Do I need any extra cord?
  4. I'll be using it with HD650, on the computer
  5. I have a Soundblaster ZxR
  6. My budget is around $500, but feel free to recommend anything worth it in the 250-1000$ price range.

Thanks! :)

Here's an interesting amp in the for sale section right now that's way below your budget ceiling: http://www.head-fi.org/t/704235/w-s-a-cavalli-ckk-iii-price-drop

If you want a new amp I'd suggest you look into the Schiit Asgard2 and NuForce HAP-1000 - use the search function here to find reviews. Both are Class A amplifier designs so make sure wherever you place either it will get good airflow around them.

A minimal choice that works fine is O2 from JDS. Ask them about plugs, &c.

A $1k amp that I expect to be very well-made and performance is Violectric V200 (and their other amps).
