hi

i have the er4p. i plugged it into an airline jack on an airplane to listen to a TV. i guess the volume was up high, because when I plugged they etys in, it was very loud and made me jump to turn down volume. it lasted about 5 secs tops. i heard no distortion, just loud

would this do damage? i think i read if there were damaged I would no longer hear sound from them or if there was sound, it would be very messy and distorted.

If they sound fine, they probably are. They're capable of much higher volumes than your ears can tolerate, and that's probably all that happened.

nah it wouldn't. i did that twice before (was toying with the prehead and forgot the turn down the volume), the sound was distorted but nothing bad happened. OTOH don't do that on a pair of cd3ks...personal experience.

Even so you might not be safe. A couple weeks ago wearing Etys inflight I was about blasted out of my seat by a flight attendant's announcement which was [size=x-large]WAY[/size] louder than the music channels. Caveat auditor.
