What's up people,

My M50's are on the way and I'm new to cans that don't cost 20 bucks. I'm hearing conflicting reports about whether the so-called "burn-in" process is a myth or a real thing. That said, I've heard several folks with M50's attest to the benefits of a good burn-in, so I think I'll give it a shot. Problem is I don't know the best way to formally burn in a pair.

As per a random Google result, I'm thinking of doing something like this using this burn-in player:

---  Four hours of that player looping
          ---  An hour of rest
---  Repeat five times at least

So, my questions to you folks:

          ---  How's this plan sound?
---  I just got the Fiio E10K Amp/DAC. Should I have the M50's plugged into that or just my Lenovo's 3.5 mm jack? Or does this not matter?
          ---  Medium-ish volume throughout, I guess?

Thanks a ton.

Playing them at a loud but (reasonable) listenable level/volume with full frequency range sound, usually for 2 to 3 days, is all you need.

That said, I don't recall much difference before of after burn in of these particular cans.

M50's don't need much burn in IME

Burn-in happens naturally through use. If you don't do anything but use them as you normally would, they will burn in on their own.

These dont need any burn-in beyond normal usage.
Most of it is the brain adjusting to a different signature....
