Essentially, I plan on creating a PC and putting all of my CDs on it. It will be a VERY LOW COST solution for the most part.
I won't get into into details yet. It will be a low cost RAID 5 solution in short.
I'll be doing this in 9 month when we move into a bigger home. This will be a housewarming gift to myself

I want to get a good sound card from a sound quality point of view. I only want 2 channels, so 5.1 cards are kinda pointless, even though they can obviously be recomended. So, quite simply, what can I get for $300, when my primary concern is sound quality? That is my maximum. if $300 is barely better than $200, I would of course love to save $100. If there is a $400 sound card out there that blows your mind though, please let me know. Is it worth the extra $100?

I think I'll jsut use my current receiver/Home Theater. I'll do that and put some small speakers in the kitchen and run them using the AB switch to switch betweenmovie watching and muic listening. This means I can spend $500 on some speakers for the kitchen though
To save money, maybe I could just toss Windows XP on that AMD K6-2 400
Hrmmmm.... Then I jsut need RAID 5 and some BIG harddrives.
Thanks,
Karl
