Hello! I am looking to build-- or buy out of a box-- a 2.1 speaker system to go along with my projector. The problem at the moment is that I don't have much money to spend so the budget is limited to $100 :frowning2: Also, I can't stand using one headphone ear piece while the other goes to the wife since she wants to watch the movie with me. Can any of you audio genius help me out on this one? Thank you!

$100 is really low for a good sounding 2.1 system. Most systems like these at this price point will not have the best bass, and driver integration and poor crossovers are also in question.

$100 is going to leave you with a system that is seriously lacking. I say save up.

If need a quick fix in the mean time, just pick any cheap box set you can find.

if you can get a Creative Gigaworks T3, that will be ok for an active 2.1 system.

Agreed.

Start with finding a used receiver on your local Craigslist. That you probably can get for $100. Then once you have that, save up and watch for speakers. Get the sub last. :)

I understand that the quality will blow. It just might be awhile until I can make a more serious funding for speakers. So I just need something that will hold me over. Even if it's buying used speakers and subwoofer.

My recommendation is that you skip the sub. For $100, even on the used market, you will barely get much in terms of speakers and amp, much less if you add in a sub, too, even if you can find anything.

What outputs do you have from protector/audio source? I would just get a really cheap stereo setup for now like a t amp plus really small (probably not very good bookshelves). Parts express or monoprice would be good sources for that. You could also get some cheap computer speakers as a so gap. Or Craigslist... Try not to get shanked if you go that route though.

Ha, craigslist could really work. I live in NYC, so craigslist became such a common place to buy second hand stuff.

The projector has a 3.5mm output but, the audio could also be run through the PC which has 8 channels.
