So I picked up a set of old school NHT Super Zero mini monitors recently for $40 and a Dayton T-amp for $60.  Last thing left is a Sub!  Anyone have any recommendations?  I can spring for the HSU STF-2 but it seems silly that I got the speakers and amp for $100 and a sub for $400.  I would prefer the use to be for mostly music listening and the occasional PC gaming -- no crazy home theater shenanigans!

Also found local on CL a super old NHT sw2 + sa-2 combo but I could probably only talk the seller down to $200 or so --- this stuff was probably new circa 1994 however!!

There are a few other subwoofers in this sort of price range that may be better, but shipping would ruin the deal.

How would one go about connecting a power sub to a small t-amp with a pair of monitors?  I too might be pretty interested in getting a cheap sub just to supplement my speakers and relieve them of their bass duties to improve their midrange.

$250 new, $225 for a B-Stock ... sometimes they have them on sale for $175 if you're lucky.

Do some google searches on it .. very highly regarded budget subwoofer.

I has been on sale on Amazon and Newegg several times over the past weeks.  Lowest I've seen is $90 delivered.

So I found a used HSU STF-1 on eBay for $200 shipped and pulled the trigger.  It's a little more than I wanted to spend but I figure if I don't like it I could probably sell it locally and not take a loss.  The used subwoofer market in AZ on Craigslist is awful btw.

The plan is now I'm going to see how I like the NHT Super Zero's with sub vs a pair of active studio monitors.
