i must admit, i am a massive senny fanboy. my first headfi purchase was a pair of HD497s, and they have served me faithfully for almost 3 years. i also own a pair of px100s, and together, these two headphones have gotten far more use than either my ue superfi 5 pros or my ksc75s.
last week, i finally managed to get my hands on a pair of hd580s, a headphone that i have been lusting after for a long time now. even after enjoying the sonic bliss that is the hd580s, i still find myself amazed by the 497 and the px100! there is no question that the 580 is far superior to both of them in every aspect, but considering what i paid for them ($40 for the 497 and $35 for the px100), these are fine headphones indeed! they both manage to put up a hell of a fight, even against the former king of the sennheiser line. i am, and always will be impressed with how much of the high end sennheiser sound has been bequeathed to these budget headphones. bravo, sennheiser, for making such luxurious sound affordable for the masses!
