Hi all, this is my first thread here. I'm looking for some advice.

I'm in the market for a new pair of cans and I'm not looking to spend much money - probably an absolute max of about AUD$80.
I am looking for a dark-sounding pair with some really good bass.
At the moment I'm only considering the Sennheiser HD 202/203.
I already own a fair few pairs, my favourite being the Creative Aurvana Live, which are amazing. I also own the V-Jays which I don't like because they are a bit too bright, the Audio Technica SJ-55 which sound pretty distant and cheap, and the XB-500 which is just bass and barely anything else.
I listen to mostly rock, pop and electronic music, and I do enjoy lots of bass, and I normally stay away from bright-sounding cans.

Any recommendations would be really helpful, as I am at quite a loss.

the HD 202 would be a downgrade for you, and they don't have good bass at all. At that price point, stick with the CAL!

dont you find the CAL's bass a bit bloated? And mids recessed?

i still prefer my K518 DJ's more aggressive sound, i found the CAL/Denon 1001 too laid back

I find those K518 bass muddy, and they don't extend to the really low levels. The WS55 at $79 has more refined bass than those SJ55s, but the SJ55 seems to have more punch. After 200 hours burn-in between the WS55, SJ55, K518, HDJ500. It's WS55 (more refined bass due to those air chambers, better on a wider range of music) > HDJ500 (curved EQ, accentuated bass and highs) > SJ55 (with burn-in they have a very punchy bass, but rolled off highs) > K518 (overpriced due to the AKG name, muddy bass, I am quite unconvinced with this purchase)

WS55 > HD500 > SJ55 > K518DJ

interesting, i dont find the k518 muddy at all, but mine are modded so that will make a difference. i find the bass quick and very puncy, not boomy at all.
they are not overpriced, and are still a great entry can and well reccomended
and i prefer a neutral sound sig btw.
