I recently bought JVC FX3X and surprisengly they offers quality deep punchy bass with crisp clear mids, highs and fairly wide soundstage. I will recommend  these for Electronic( they offers rich sound experience), Hip Hop/Rap, POP, Rock genres music.

How do they compare to monster's line of headphones more or less base?

They are close to or same level of Turbine with less price tag and bass is crisp and rich on FX3X with slightely large soundstage than Turbine with great imaging and instruments sepration for the price(the Mids, highs are clear on FX3X).
