I'm using an old marantz sr 1000 reciever I picked up at a garage sell for 20$.It sounds great, full bass..detailed highs.I have stefan audioart cables and feel they bring out the best in akg 1000 headphones when using solidstate amplification.

Soz for the phoenix down but the Topping PA3 is a good budget option.
70W, compact, good potentiometer & runs pretty cool too.
