100+ Head-Fier
I purchased a used a DV336se recently. Due to - I'm assuming - mishandling of the package by USPS, the power toggle switch broke off. Despite this, the amp still worked... I only needed to unplug the unit to turn it off. One night, while it was powered on, I moved the DV a bit to re-position it... cue a blue spark where the toggle switch was, immediate loss of power, and a blown fuse.
I tried to remove the front panel to see if there was a way to twist the wires together, allowing me to keep the amp on without risk of another short, but I could not remove the front panel. I read on these forums that the only thing I had to do was remove the screws that encircle the volume knob, but either this isn't the case, or it's held down via a very strong adhesive.
Does anyone have any tips? Do i need to open up the bottom of the amp do get the front panel off? Is this something I should even do? This is my first tube amp, and before this happened, I was beginning to really love the way they made my HD650's sound. Thanks for the help.
