Hi there! I currently own a pair of Sennheiser HD 205's and now sound only comes out of one ear! I have had these headphones for 1 year and they were the best that I have ever owned... I am not sure whether I should open them up, find a headphone specialist, or replace them. If I do need to replace them can you give me any suggestions on what to buy please. I mainly listen to electro/house, Dubstep, rock, metal and drum and bass. I have a budget of £80. I also use my headphones with my electric violin and I wear them about 4+ hours a day. Thanks in advance! :)

Firstly, is the fault at the jack plug end, if so thats much easier to get fixed, if its at the driver end, the end that goes on your head... could be a bit more fiddly.

These headphones are mid-priced, so its borderline as to whether its worth getting them fixed unless you can do DIY soldering or know someone who can do it it for you for a beer or 2.

I gather you must have headphones not IEMs, thats what you have asked for, so if they are going to be used heavily, maybe worth investing more in a higher quality product with replaceable cabling for example, or buy some almost disposable headphones that can basically be replaced cheaply.

For instance, JVC Flats HA-S160 are often available for around the £10 mark or so.  The older S150 might be available cheaper... nice headphones comfort not so sure but i did own a pair, and you can break them and just buy another pair at the price.
