Hello from an older member with failing ears …

I’m using Meze Empyrean (silver cable) with DAVE/M-scaler and listen to rock and blues.

The Empyreans are superb and very engaging in my system but I’m slightly underwhelmed by the higher frequencies. Especially cymbals. While there, they aren’t as apparent to my ears which are challenged in the high frequencies.

I had the same issue with Focal Clear headphones.

Should I try other cans or apply some parametric eq in my Auralic Aries?

Trying EQ before going to purchase another headphone is probably a good idea. It can be a bit of tinkering at first, but once you're used to the process it gets a lot more easy.

It's quite a bit brighter, less bass and more highs
