Well I picked these up as promised. Here are the initial impressions!

The comfort is much improved over the original Px7’s. The clamping force is much less, and it’s more plush materials. The sound is really really detailed. Like, I have these and the XM5’s from Sony and really it’s not even close. These are closer to the 5909’s from ML. The detail is super.

Lows: tight. Bass is present, thumpy, but very tight. It doesn’t leak at all. Clean and tight. Leans warm

Mids: very warm. But again, crispy detailed clean. Trumpets sound really smooth and crisp. Great detail. A tad bit recessed, but not v or u curve recessed

Highs: a tad bright, but in a good way. Again, crispy. Especially Crisp here. I’d say of all the ranges, a bit more pronounced here, but in a good way.

Soundstage: it’s a closed back anc headphone, don’t expect miracles here. It’s adequate. Detailed, but not gonna blow you away with width or anything. Best way I can describe it is it feels like you’re very much center stage listening to whatever music with literal crystal clarity.

Comparing this to the 5909 from ML? ML has a wider, airier soundstage, it’s just spectacularly wide. But, the Px7 s2 has tighter acoustics. It just sounds tighter. Better detail in terms of overall presentation, if you’re into sounding like you’re right there.

Songs I’ve really hit on so far that made me go wow: 8 Bit Big Band: Rosalina in the Observatory and Gourmet Race. Those blew me away. Sam Cooke’s “Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen” the initial wind instrument is lovely. PTX’s Bohemian Rhapsody was great to notice the separation of vocalists. And uh…just for fun I threw on Welcome to the Black Parade. That was just sonically fun.

I’m thinking I should wait for the PX8 but really tempted to grab these.

Likewise.

Based on these impressions sounds like the soundstage is a step down from the PX and the PX7 v1? Bit of a shame as I thought even the PX had the pretty impressive soundstage for what it was (closed back ANC).

Any comparisons with B&O H95?

Likewise.
I picked up a blue pair today :L3000:

I've got the PX7 and H95's - will give the S2's some decent time and then I'll chuck up some impressions. Had them on for about 30mins and so far so good! Running them from my iPhone but through the Creative Bluetooth adapter (so codec is APTX HD). Certainly a lot clearer than the PX7!

Thanks for the review.

Unsure if you have or have used the PX7? I sold my PX7 carbons as I just found them muddy and a little congested. Really interested if the S2s have improved in this regard?

Thanks again

Not muddy at all, at the moment I think they may dethrone the H95’s for me, just need to throw some more genres at them tomorrow :) while the soundstage isn’t out of your head the separation and space around instruments is very impressive, probably the best I’ve heard from a wireless can. Very impressed so far!

I’ve had both. And the H95’s, and god knows any other headphone you can think of. The only ones that have even come close in terms of detail are the Mark Levinson 5909’s and you see their price. The S2’s are basically a cleaner, more detailed, less muddy version of the S1. Also, importantly, for me, they are a lot more comfortable on my head, which was a big problem with the originals.

So these beat the H95s for sound?! Big if true. Excited to try these out as well as the PX8 when available

I am super tempted now!

On my B&O H95, the line in (3.5mm) only works if you have the headphones switched on, and there is a slightly delay/lag on the audio, which makes it difficult for calls using a Rodacaster pro.
Do these have 3.5mm input? Do they require amplification/battery for it? Is there any way you can test the audio latency?
Thanks in advance!

There is no 3.5mm input. There is only the singular USB-C port. It does come with a USB-C to 3.5mm cable though.
