Hi everyone,

As per subject, I've recently bought a pair of AKG Q701s which I'm hoping will arrive in the next week or two. I was hopng V-Moda made a version of the BoomPro that was compatible with the 701s, but it seems they don't. Hell, I can't even find a suitable adapter that would allow the BoomPro be used with the 701s! So apart from the ModMic from Antlion (which I'd rather only use as a last resort), what are my options as regards a decent mic for PC gaming?

Thanks in advance,

D.

You probably can grab a Blue Snowball, it's a very popular desktop mic these days

Thanks for the suggestions guys, very much appreciated!

Since posting, I was told by a guy on another forum that a Head-Fier is actually making adapters for the BoomPro/Q701. He couldn't find the link but I'm gonna have a look around.

If you'll consider not having the mic on the headphone, you can get something like this: http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Podcast-Recording-Desktop-Microphone/dp/B009D015TI/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1404319141&sr=8-15&keywords=pc+mic

I use one of those slim mics that you usually see on a table for government conferences or when legislators are grilling somebody. Office scratched off a few damaged ones and I took one home and just had the cable replaced. You just need to talk a wee bit louder because it'll be off-center (it's tall enough to get in the way of my monitor).

When this kicks the bucket I'll use something like this with an extension cable, so I can have it near my keyboard and at a straighter path from my mouth.

This is gonna be the cheapest one you'll find. I use it and its quite amazing, sounding better than all the headset mics I've owned. Only issue is that it takes a few weeks to get. You might wanna just order and forget about it for a bit.

Thanks for those suggestions - I'll do some investigating on them all.

Yeah, just trawling through it again now (it's where I first found the 701s recommended for gaming), but man, it's a big freaking thread!

Anyway, thanks again everyone - I genuinely appreciate your help.
