A little thread bump, but my rule of thumb:
NEVER trust and buy Shures (especially the 215) from sellers in ebay, Chinese sites or whenever else that have 30-40+ of them available and alleging they are "refurbised". They are 99% of the time fake. And fake SE215-s sound just crap compared to the genuine. Every one of them.
Last year i bought a couple of 215 from these bulk "refurbished items" sellers, and both were fake. One seller had over 8k sells and 98% positive in Ebay, and that's okay. That's their business model. But they are not genuine.
If you want a cheap legit one, just look at some individual selling their used pair.
