My cousin recently visited me, and when he heard my AV123 ELT525 + SVS PB-12 NSD, he was really impressed and wanted some speakers exactly like them. However, he doesn't have space for a monster subwoofer to accompany them like the PB12-NSD.

I got my speakers for about 150 on sale. The sub was obviously way more expensive. His budget is 500 or so for the entire system (including amp or receiver). Anyway, I'm hoping to give him some quality speakers, but preferably with a larger woofer than the ELT525 so we can just skip the subwoofer altogether for him (this way, there's money left over for an amp if needed, and he doesn't end up with a craptastic subwoofer ruining the whole sound).

So... any suggestions? Anything with 6inch+ woofer that sounds as good or better than ELT525 will do...

I'm currently searching for speakers with larger woofers for myself, here are few that seem to be pretty well regarded under $500 for a pair leaving some cash for an amp
Klipsch B-3 6.5" $180
HSU HB-1 MK2 6.5" $300
PSB B25 6.5" $300
Axiom M3 6.5" $330
SVS SCS01 2x6" $350
Wharfedale Diamond 10.2 6.5" $350
Search around other decent brands, should be a few more. Very slim pickings in 8" bookshelf department, and much more expensive

Paradigm Titan monitor 7.5" $300

Has front base port also, well reviewed....

EDIT: actually the price might be closer to 500. Its really hard to get prices for paradigm's stuff....
