My new apartment has bunch of rooftop amenities like a pool, bocce court, grill, yoga studio, etc.  They are great, but working out, hanging in the pool, and BBQing without music are a disappointment.  Surprisingly there are never many/any people up there so I do not feel bad broadcasting my music.  There are no outlets so I need a battery operated speaker that is easy to pack along with a few beers, some burgers, and a bocce set.  I am downtown, so I do not need super high fidelity as the traffic, AC units and other city noises will be there, but I cannot stand clipping or obvious distortion.  A few other desired features:

- Comfortable volume within a 10-20ft radius
- 2-3 hour battery life
- Water resistant (there is a pool, and don't want to worry about it if it starts to drizzle)
- Portable.  Does not have to be tiny, but being able to throw it in a bag and be no more than a few lbs.  Basically, I just dont want one of those classic boombox size things...you know what I mean...
- Bluetooth is nice, but not necessary

Price limit $300

Any suggestions?
I have always been a fan of UE/Logitech products (love my Triple-fi 10s), so the MegaBoom looks appealing. The 360 deg sound projection would be helpful for me.

Thanks

I haven't heard it, but the Riva Turbo X seems very popular. There's a discussion thread devoted to it here on Head-Fi: http://www.head-fi.org/t/764001/review-riva-turbo-x-high-performance-premium-mobile-bluetooth-speaker-plus-headquarters-tour. Apparently it is water resistant.

I've owned a TDK Life On Record A33 portable since last Thanksgiving when I bought it from Amazon during one of their Black Friday Lightning Deals; I think around $69 shipped.

It's been used heavily since; boating, camping, backyard BBQ, etc. It's been dropped, gotten wet plenty of times (splashed, light rain but never submerged) and has been in hot sun. Battery life is great, certainly five hours or more. 12Vdc power so I made an adapter so I can charge or run it anywhere where there is a 12V battery (boat, car, camper). It sounds good to me playing uncompressed AIFF files from my 64GB iPod. I prefer to run a short Cardas cable but it also works fine wireless.

A reasonably priced, rugged, decent sounding product.

^^

+1

I recently got the A33 on special from Woot. Definitely performs as well as other bluetooth speakers in the <$150 class. :)

Is this available in China?

Hello, can anyone recommend for 30-35 available through Amazon (ITALY possibly)? All that matters is the bluetooth connection and the possibility to connect the player through AUX cable (Sorry for the english xD)
