Airplay is surprisingly good. I actually prefer it over DLNA and UPnP

I like Airplay 2 for how easy it is to setup a connection. But UPnP / DLNA is much better. However it seems UPnP/DLNA does require some skill to get it right since not all companies can implement it correctly (looking at you Chord xD)

Actually i prefer the sound of airplay over upnp/dlna. Kinda strange.

Elitism wont allow this technology to thrive at least in the short term, and i think it shouldnt, since it is the least energy efficient tech in the audio world and we should aim to spend the least amount of energy in leisure stuff.
