Here's the deal,...

I'm wearing UE10's-Tomahawk-iPod.

Cell phone rings.
  • I don't hear it, and continue avoiding reality.
  • or, it vibrates and pulls me out of my dreamlike trance.

Either way, I'm sick of dislodging a UE10 to answer the phone.

Is there a product out there that I could plug my OWN headphones into, then plug that device into my OWN audio player?

It would contain bluetooth, a mic, and an answer button. When I get a call, the music mutes, and I can take the call using the headphone of MY choosing. I've seen many headphones with this fuctionality build in, but I never intend to listen to anything recorded unless it's through the UE10's again in my life.

Yes, I wish to be buried with them.

Any help on the bluetooth adapter issue?

Thanks

they have these, however they usually come with headphones. Unless if you got one and modded it yourself so you could use the headphones. But they do exist. Not sure if it would be what you want..

I'm considering these 2 products, both of which allow you to use your own headphones - unlike the jabra mentioned above.

Jays BlueStreamer

Jays BlueStreamer with j-JAYS @ HeadRoom - Right Between Your Ears
This allows you to listen to your source (ipod/MP3 player) but not control it. However, you can switch between your source and your phone (which you can control, and the device has a built-in mic)

MyBlu
On the other hand, the harder-to-find Mavizen MyBlue allows you to control an iPod, but you can't use it with any other source since it plugs into the iPod port. It also includes an FM radio. In theory, you can switch seamlessly from iPod, to talking on the cell phone (via bluetooth) to listening to the radio.

See the cnet review here:

It's available here:

I'm waiting for a comparison between the two before making a decision.

Thanks. I hadn't seen that product. I'll check it out.

But you're both inncorrect about the Jabra. It comes with headphones, yes. But you can use your own. As quoted here

"...Flexible
Use your own headphones with a standard 3.5 mm jack – and still enjoy same dual functionality..."

I'm gunna go compare the two.

Jabra also has a new Dog Tag styled adapter coming out.

I like the idea of the white jabra. Have been toying with the idea of picking one up. it plugs inline to your Audio device and "hi-jacks" the sound when your phone rings.

...and it if my cell isn't annoying as it is, lets let it interrupt the music as well!

(I usually leave my phone on vibrate so when someone calls, I can decide if I want to interrupt whatever i'm doing to answer, or let the voicemail do it all for me)

Only thing is, yer then slaved to the quality of the BT's receiver amplifier. Hope it's adecuate for your UE10.

with the white jabra bt325 and with the jays, its a wired connection to your audio device and bluetooth to your phone.

I'm not sure how much "devaluation" you'll find in the circuitry/switching of the device itself, but this is intriguing.

I'm wishing my ipod had this bluetooth profile built in.

Good points all.

This is only for those times when I REALLY need to be reachable. Like when on call for work.

Otherwise, it's directly from the Tomahawk and into my brain.

Thanks for the help. I went from wishing this product existed to realizing that the are several choices out there. Hopefully this thread will be helpful to someone else, too.

Hey, if it's important enuff, they will leave a msg right.

One of my old boss used to be annoyed when I don't pick up right away. That would be the one reason, or if expecting Gwen Stefani.

I just don't wanna uncork the UE10s for any reason. This'll be one less.
